For the past decade Shook has pursued and mastered the techniques of both steel pan and electronic music. He cultivated his understanding of the steel pan during time spent in Trinidad and through playing in numerous highly respected steel bands, including the world renowned Our Boys Steel Orchestra.

Shook incorporates steel pan and electronic music with his own soulful sound to create a unique yet accessible genre of music. The result is a raw, honest and gripping euphony that has been described by Bill Adler of Mouth Almighty/Mercury Records as having an "untouchably cultivated form... that sounds like prince but with steel pan and less pornography."

Shook lists among his musical influences: Sam Cooke, George Jones, Sarah Vaughn, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Antonio Carlos Jobim.
